Season outlook

Last updated June 6, 2026 — this week's live numbers load below. For right-now readings, see live conditions

Season outlook (early summer): kokanee trolling typically ramps up as June warms — start at first light before the afternoon wind. Pike are active in the north-end shallows after ice-out, and stocked rainbows are reliable. This is a baseline outlook, not a live catch report — for this week's actual bite, ask at the marina or book a local guide. We'll post real updates here through the season.

  • Kokanee (fair) — Trolling builds as the water warms into summer; numbers vary year to year — ask the marina/guides for the current outlook.
  • Northern Pike (good) — Active in the weedy north-end shallows in late spring and early fall.
  • Rainbow Trout (good) — Reliable around ice-out and through spring, from boat or shore.
  • Walleye (fair) — Low-light bite; work 10–40 ft from a boat.
  • Smallmouth Bass (fair) — Rocky structure and docks as the shallows warm into June–July.

How this report works

Every Sunday we read the lake's live gauges — reservoir level and elevation from the Bureau of Reclamation, creek inflows and dam outflow from the USGS — and pair them with the season's bite pattern and any word from local anglers and guides. When a hand-written report from the marina or a guide is fresh (within two weeks), that runs instead; otherwise you're seeing the auto snapshot, always clearly dated. Numbers here are a dated snapshot — for the current reading, live conditions is the source of truth. See also the full fishing guide, licenses & permits, and 85 years of lake levels.
